I do believe that unit needs help. We don't have many units like that in our parts. I would definitely have it checked out.
Howdy Carl and Ceil
My friend, thank ya for being the very first to leave a comment, on this post. In my little ol Blogging Homestead.
Carl - That there unit had to be replaced. The Asbestos was starting to brake off of the unit. The folk's that where buying the home had two small kids.
Dale - Life expectancy of those units can only last so long. Sure glad it was replaced. I know you would like to avoid the expense but not good to take a chance. It would have to be replaced soon or later....sooner is better.
That's quite an antique looking system there Dale. For sure it's had better days. I wonder just how much their heating bill went down after they replaced this.
Howdy Carl and Ceil

It just so happens, that I can tell you. Affter the owner's replaced it for the buyer's, and the buyer's added more insulation in the attic. The heating bill went down 75%. They called me to let me know. After their first winter in the home.
Dale - I have an inspection today for some folks that were selling and said they were impressed and contacted me to inspect the home they are buying.
See ya tonite.

Carl - Way to go, my friend. I sure do know why they, where impressed by ya. They picked the very best Home Inspector. In your neck of the woods. In the Grand State of Texas.
See ya later tonight!
That seem to be the only choice, to be replaced. It's wonderful when both parties exercise a little common sense.
