Our subject for this part of the inspection of the home, is going to be part of the Electrical Service of this home.
First Time Home Buyers place accompany me, down to the basement.
Electrical Service Conductors: Overhead service
The location of the main and distribution panels: is in the basement
Branch wire 15 and 20 AMP: Copper
The panel capacity: 100 AMP
Panel Type: Circuit breakers
Wiring Methods: Romex Cloth wrapped
Mr. and Mrs. Client's, please stand back over here. As I talk with you about this wire hanging on the nail.
The reason I'm asking you to do this, we have a dirt floor. And that the hot water heater over there on the right, is leaking at the bottom of it.

This could very will light up your life - or end it!
The only thing thats keepen the live wire from showing is black electrical tape.
The issues here is, this wire's circuit was not properly terminated. A qualifed electrician should examine and make corrections as needed. This is something not to be played around with at all.

Maybe thats just what the home inspector, that had owned this home at one time was a thinking. I always like looking up the owner history of older homes that I do inspections of. You sure can find a lot of very interesting thing about an older home, by doing that.
Glad you enjoyed reading this here post.
oooh... that looks like a pretty scary wiring situation those homeowners have, Dale!
Howdy and good morning Shirley

All of your true friends here in the AR community, sure have missed you, and the fine post, that you write. Hope you also got by to visit our friends Carl, Ceil, and Ricki.
It sure would not be a good thing if the tape would come loose, or if the wire some how it would fall of that there nail and ended up in some water. And then someone would come along with out knowing it. They could very will be sent in to a very long sleep. There are 9 other posts that go along with this one. The first post which I just got done doing a bit ago, has the links to each of the posts. And a link to a Home Maintenance Calendar post,
Right after I submit this reply to you. I'll be sending you an AR contact e-mail.
No matter how you slice it..that electrical looks scary! Good for the Home Owners that you caught that one!

You sure are right, anything to do with electrical can be scary for folks. I'll just never undersand why folks, don't just take a bit of time to look over the areas of their home's. And then when the Home Inspector comes, to do an Inspection for a Home Buyer. The Owner will get upset when we find things like this.
Dale - I respect electricity and I want it to respect me back. We do find some the craziest things in some of these homes. Looks like an accident looking to happen.
Howdy there Carl and Ceil

So I went right to the box to take a look see. Got to tell you my, the buyers Real Estate Agent, did not understand why I was concerned about it.
